Michael Yon Says - "Clown Down"

Michael Yon "Clown Down"

Can imagine a crackling radio call, "Clown Down. We have a Clown Down."

Subsequent my outing Lieutenant Colonel Tadd Sholtis, mouthpiece for General Stanley McChrystal, for running an "unofficial" website, it has been taken down.

The website was used to anonymously make official statements with plausible deniability that they were coming through official channels.

Would kindly suggest that the White House and Pentagon demand that Public Affairs in Kabul provide a copy of that entire website for their review.

"Clown Six" is down and has lost the initiative.

Air Force public affairs officer blog pulled from web after posting article critical of the press.

The Only Thing I'll Write About This

Sometimes you can be too close to something to write about it well, so I'll encourage you to continue reading better pieces about the resignation of General McChrystal from pros who have a good grasp of the basic situation, like David Brooks or the BBC's John Simpson. But here goes.

The most striking fact of this incident won't be found in the pages of Rolling Stone, although I won't blame you if you buy it for the cover (right). What is most significant is that media hype drove admirable policymakers to decide to change leaders in less than 48 hours. Perhaps that's a demonstration of decisiveness, but -- if so -- media owe the deciders and the public something better than what they got in this case.

Readers of the blog will know that I'm critical of media failures but I'm no enemy of the press -- at least, I wasn't a few days ago. The degree of transparency afforded to journalists covering the war in Afghanistan has been unsurpassed. I would like to believe that the public's understanding of the war has been improved as a result of this access; however, it's much tougher to believe that now. Looking back, I see too many similar cases where access has been manipulated to pursue predetermined agendas, caricatured to emphasize its most sensational aspects, or squandered by lazy instincts to follow the herd. It may be too early to tally the effect of our media culture on national security policy and its implementation in Afghanistan. This week, the human cost, to our shame, is all too evident.

The reporter has made a show of professing his integrity, mostly by pointing out that he hasn't been challenged. Maybe that's simply because, for a dwindling number of people on this planet, there are more important things than covering your own ass. When you've given offense to those you serve and admire, apologizing and taking responsibility for mistakes come first. Righting wrongs done to you in the process comes second, if it ever comes at all. Sometimes staying true to yourself is more important than having the right PR strategy, even in the face of a hatchet job.

The most offensive comments appearing in the Rolling Stone article -- by what I believe were a few people of relatively low rank and limited experience with reporters -- were inappropriate and deserved rebuke. They should not have been made in the presence of a reporter, regardless of the ground rules in place. But no extended exposure to staffs at any level of government could have failed to produce the kinds of comments reported in the piece: comments made not out of ingrained malice toward the Constitution, but out of a kind of sour humor that emerges under conditions of intense work and constant scrutiny. That doesn't justify the remarks, but it puts them squarely in the realm of the forgivably human -- which is to say, somewhere below the level at which senior military and civilian leaders must keep up appearances.

In the end, no unanswered questions about the quality of the article or the nature of the offense impeded a rush to judgment everywhere at once, which is fairly damning evidence of how much media have conditioned us to react before we think. The article that prompted General McChrystal's resignation did not even hit the stands before media personalities arriving on scene with promo copies of the piece in hand decided that he had to go. It did not need to happen this way. With the rapid rise of Rolling Stone and the sudden fall of General McChrystal, journalists and public servants who consider their positions a sacred trust have made it harder for themselves to hold out against the barbarians of secrecy, superficiality or sleaze. Once we stop to breathe on this story, we need to ask ourselves why.

Conduct Unbecoming A President ???

Michael Yon Says - "Eject the Clowns"

Michael Yon Eject the Clowns
If we are going to turn this war around, we must Eject the Clowns who have been deceiving the public.
One of those clowns was McChrystal spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Tadd Sholtis, who personally participated in the blog posse against me. (Sholtis was clever enough to participate in writing, which I got hold of.) That Sholtis so terribly lost that battle is evidence of his own military incompetence. That his boss is gone from Afghanistan and I'm going back is final proof.
In his blog, Sholtis pretends these opinions are his own. (While he runs public affairs ops for General McChrystal and uses inside knowledge/access.) That's like a commando saying he does private missions on the side using U.S. intelligence -- with full knowledge of the U.S. military -- but those don't reflect on the U.S. military.
From his Quatto Zone website:
"An Air Force public affairs officer, but the views expressed here are my own and (sometimes sadly, sometimes mercifully) not those of the U.S. Government, Department of Defense, Air Force or anybody else who works for those organizations, period."
---
Sholtis, everything on your "private" website is coming from a U.S. official who spoke/speaks for General Stanley McChrystal.
This is not a "private battle." Sholtis and others came on my radar after the issues with Menard and McChrystal surfaced. I then realized that Sholtis and others were part of the problem. They continue to deceive the public at a time when we need truth more than ever.

Will Petraeus be our next President?

What an interesting thought from Paul Craig Roberts at Infowars.
Now with Gen. Petraeus once again moved to the fore as McChrystal’s replacement in Afghanistan, we have Obama elevating Petraeus to the Republican presidential nomination in the next election. Thus has Obama replaced himself with a man who will unify the military and executive branch?

THEY DON'T NEED LEGISLATION TO KILL FREE SPEECH ON THE WEB

All they need is to distribute random bits of malware. Bloggers need a defense against this or it's back to the Guetenberg.

Here is what happened this morning, I opened up my blog in Google Chrome and was welcomed by this-

You see, it's not our fault - and Google is only doing their best to keep us safe (for now). But Gatewaypundit appears to host malware. Gatewaypundit is a great site that has been hacked.

This malware (these hackers) have successfully sent their message - "Gatewaypundit is dangerous. You shouldn't visit Gatewaypundit. Gatewaypundit will turn your computer into a smoldering hulk." And because of this association, my site is also viewed as "dangerous". The hacker message continues - "Everyone should go and read MSNBC's home page instead. Stay away from those dangerous malware blogs. You were a fool to go there in the first place."

If you have braved the malware and are still interested, here are the rest of the details.

In order to "safely" open up my site, I had to go into my Google account and remove Gatewaypundit's RSS link from my blog. This fixed the problem on my site. The hackers won the battle, but the war continues.

Is Gatewaypundit dangerous? I don't know. Is malware installed on Gatewaypundit's site? I don't know. But now what can I do? Should I risk damage to my computer to go to Gatewaypundit and warn them about the reported infection? All the while, Gatewaypundit's traffic drops, Kish Collections traffic drops, Kish Collections no longer links to Gatewaypundit and few are the wiser.

This is how they kill free speech on the internet. One day it's Gatewaypundit, the next day it's Kish Collections, and the day after that it's the Drudge Report, American Thinker and the Michael Savage Home Page. But here's the silver lining- with the recent crash of the newspaper market, you can pick up a used printing press really cheap on ebay.

Update - below is a screenshot from Gateway Pundit's Twitter Page
You can also follow Gateway Pundit on Facebook HERE. Jim- Please please send an email to jnkish [at] hotmail [dot] com when Gateway Pundit is fixed. I already miss your site, and the Internet is a lesser place without it.

Blogger Search Engine (powered by Google) is not working in my blog! - Blogger Help

I couldn't get the Google "Search This Blog" widget to work. The "Powered by Google" search box was and still is Broken on my newest blog-
Ironically, I used Google search to determine that this has been a widespread problem off and on since 2009.
The following link provides a workaround fix-

You can add another search box.
These are the codes:
Go to layout, click on:-
1. "add a gadget" (scroll down to html/javascript)
2. "add to blog" (paste these codes in the large box)
3. save (you can now drag and drop your new search box any where on your page.)

This is working fine for me until Blogger can fix the "Powered by Google" widget.

If you are having the same problem, you can help Google fix it by posting information here-

As wages rise in China, Taiwan firms to head elsewhere?

The View from Taiwan

Epoch Times - Foxconn Suicide Scandal: Deeper in the Fox Hole

Epoch Times - Foxconn Suicide Scandal: Deeper in the Fox Hole
“It’s an old trick for the Chinese communist regime to prey on Taiwanese businesses,” said Kao Weipang, head of Taiwan’s Victims of Investment in China Association (VICA). “When I saw the unanimous criticism on Chinese government controlled media, I knew this is not just about suicides. They are trying to break Terry Gou.”

Is the Chinese government moving against Taiwanese and Japanese corporations?

Source Article - Richmans' Trade and Taxes Blog: Is the Chinese government moving against Taiwanese and Japanese corporations?
Howard Richman, 6/13/2010
Over the last month, strikes have broken out against many factories of Japanese and Taiwanese corporations in China, leading to huge wage increases. There have been many theories laid out as to why the strikes are occurring. For example, when Associated Press reported the story, they reported the following possible explanations:

Analysts said the recent labor actions were related specifically to job conditions and wages rather than any wider issues such as friction with Japan, which has at times prompted public outbursts against the Japanese in China....

Younger Chinese now seeking work in factories were raised in an era of relative plenty and have less tolerance for highly regimented factory living than older generations familiar with hunger, political unrest and poverty.

These theories do not explain why only Japanese and Taiwanese factories have been involved. Other articles have proposed that Japanese and Taiwanese factories pay lower wages than western factories or that Japanese and Taiwanese factories tend to employ workers from the same home towns, making worker unity more likely.

All of these explanations are indeed possible, but I have a different one. I suspect that the Chinese government is specifically targeting Japanese and Taiwanese factories in order to make them less competitive than Chinese-owned factories within the Chinese market as part of a foreign policy which is targeting these countries.

My theory is supported by the clear involvement of the Chinese Communist Party in permitting the strikes and controlling their message.

A French fishing vessel rescued a California teenager Saturday from her crippled sailboat in the turbulent southern Indian Ocean... Her parents have come under criticism from some observers for allowing the high-risk adventure.

My take on the situation: This young woman appears to be a competent sailor. Had God been willing, she would have completed her journey. I agree with the comments of her father, Laurence, in defense of the voyage: "I never questioned my decision in letting her go," he told reporters Friday. "In this day and age we get overprotective with our children. If you want to look at statistics, look at how many teenagers die in cars every year. Should we let teenagers drive cars? I think it'd be silly if we didn't."

I would add that many of these same critics would have no problem issuing this same girl a uniform and a rifle at age eighteen and sending her off to Afghanistan or Iraq to fight their wars for them. When comparing these situations, a difference of two years means little to nothing.

Factory strikes spread in China

June 11, 2010
http://www.chinaeconomicreview.com/
Strikes in Chinese factories have now spread to three Japanese-owned and three Taiwan-owned facilities in the wake of successful action at a Honda (HMC.NYSE, 7267.TYO) plant in Guangdong province last week, the South China Morning Post reported. Workers at Honda Lock in Zhongshan, which makes car locks and key sets, are into the second day of their strike after rejecting an offer of a RMB100 (US$14.60) pay rise. They are demanding parity with workers at Foshan-based Honda Autoparts who were last week granted a RMB600-plus increase. In Shanghai, a Taiwan computer parts manufacturer affiliated with Foxconn (2038.HK, 2317.TWSE) had to stop production over contract disputes, while in Xi’an, Shaanxi, Japan’s Brother Industries (6448.TYO) has halted work at two industrial sewing machine factories due to a strike. There have already been reports of clashes between workers and police at a sports good factory in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, and at a rubber factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu, both of which are Taiwan-owned.

Mexican authorities recover 55 bodies from mine shaft - CNN.com

(CNN) -- Mexican authorities found 55 bodies inside a mine ventilation shaft that was used as a mass grave in the city of Taxco, officials said Monday.
Bodies were first discovered in the mine shaft a week ago, and Monday's announcement concluded the weeklong recovery effort.
Of the 55 bodies, three were mummified, and two were skeletal remains, the Guerrero state attorney general's office said.
Only four of the bodies have been identified. Among them is David Bravo Mota, who was an area prison warden, officials said.
State Attorney General Albertico Guinto Sierra said he was asking families with missing loved ones to come to his office to begin a process of genetic testing to help identify the remaining bodies.
Meanwhile, authorities said they would explore the mine's 10 other ventilation shafts to see whether any more bodies were discarded there.

CNN Dips It's Toe into Spirituality and Religion on this Sunday Morning

Are there dangers in being 'spiritual but not religious'? - CNN.com

CNN writer John Blake says-
The "I'm spiritual but not religious" community is growing so much that one pastor compared it to a movement. In a 2009 survey by the research firm LifeWay Christian Resources, 72 percent of millennials (18- to 29-year-olds) said they're "more spiritual than religious." The phrase is now so commonplace that it's spawned its own acronym ("I'm SBNR") and Facebook page: SBNR.org.
He quotes Jesuit Priest James Martin throughout the piece and wraps it up with this-
Being spiritual instead of religious may sound sophisticated, but the choice may ultimately come down to pettiness, says Martin, the Jesuit priest, who writes about the phrase in his book, "The Jesuit Guide to (Almost Everything)." "Religion is hard," he says. "Sometimes it's just too much work. People don't feel like it. I have better things to do with my time. It's plain old laziness."
I wonder, what would Martin Luther (before King) think of the SBNR "movement"?

I think that he would understand that it is wise to avoid illogical "created" divisions.  Spirituality itself is inherently religious.  How can spirituality and religion possibly be separated when they are one and the same?

If alive today, I think Luther would stand and clearly speak: "I'm spiritual AND religious, but I no longer attend the Catholic Church".

To learn more of Martin Luther (before King), spirituality, religion and Jesus Christ; have a look at the videos linked HERE.  Also, for an examples vibrant spiritual religion outside the confines of the structured church network visit The Daily Audio Bible or Men At The Cross.  Rest assured, God is working throughout the world- no matter how CNN tries to spin it.

Michael Savage Questions Obama's Loyalty and Eligibility ...

In this video Savage talks about Obama's ineligibility and disloyalty. He also discusses the radical left's global communist agenda as well. Steve Cooper comments on that agenda...

Source: Give Us Liberty: Michael Savage Questions Obama's Loyalty and Eligibility ...

I have said many times that the collapse of the U.S. economy is being staged by enemies from within, much like the way the Soviet Union staged their collapse. Our collapse will also be military, due to spreading the military throughout the world and breaking the will of the people to fight against tyranny around the globe.

This is not about politics, this is about freedom. This is not about Democrats vs. Republicans, this is a global communist conspiracy that dates back to the early 1900's, but phase two kicked in under Nikita Kruschev in 1958. The plan was to infiltrate the Unite States and implement communism from within.

Kruschev said "We will spoon feed you socialism and you will become communists without even firing a shot". Kruschev also told Ezra Taft Benson that his grandchildren would be living under communism. People laughed at that and they also laughed at McCarthy. Well, Joe McCarthy was RIGHT....

"The meaning of peace is the absence to resistance to socialism" - Karl Marx

This quote by Karl Marx is haunting us still to this day. Most Islamic terrorism that we are seeing around the globe is related to this quote, because Russia and China are fighting the USA and Israel via proxies like Iran, North Korea, Syria, Hezbollah, the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Also, you can add Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to this mix as well.

If we had no more borders or religion, there would be no more wars; This is the propaganda that the left wing spews. They leave out the most important part, your freedoms. You will be owned by an entity, a world entity rather than having individual rights as an American citizen. Those days will be long gone, because you will have to think about the greater good for mankind and the world.

These leftists are tools for the International Marxists and they are slaves in their own mind. Their radical agenda is more important to them, then thefreedom of the next generation. History is repeating itself, because we have seen this before in communist Russia, Nazi Germany, Cuba and Cambodia.

We will not need a military if we just converted to communists. This is the dirty little secret that they do not tell you. There will be no need for wars if the world was controlled via a centralized government economically and militarily.

This is the direction we are headed towards and radical Islam is being used as a battering ram by the Marxists to destroy capitalism and freedom once and for all.

The Afghanistan Experience by U.S. Marine Corps. Major David Fennell

Editor's note: David Fennell of Littleton is a major in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is stationed in Marjah, Afghanistan, as head of the Civil Affairs Group there. Before that, he served a tour in Iraq. His father, Denny, asked David to sum up his experiences as he nears the end of his deployment.

Although I've gotten used to things around here, this place can wear on you. Don't get me wrong, I truly believe in our mission and its importance to both the Afghan people and security back home. Still, southern Afghanistan is a hard place.

The question Marines ask themselves most when talking with folks back home is "Where do I start?" There are no easy answers.

Sand, moon dust, terrain, weather, enemy, Marines getting hurt, Marines taken out of action, high op tempo, 24/7, working with locals, working with civilians, working with Afghan government, working with Afghan police, working with Afghan army, working with international forces (ISAF), bad food, drinking tea with locals knowing you'll get sick, getting sick, watching for IEDs, looking for ambushes, suicide bomb threats, enemy murdering and intimidating the local population, local "friends" working with enemy, Marines getting killed, controlled IED detonations, wondering what caused an explosion, the kids, seeing bad things happen to kids, bad kids throwing rocks, bad kids taunting and making gestures that you're going to get blown up, locals gaming the system, locals complaining about everything, locals always want more, some locals step up and the enemy takes some locals down . . .
